Lenovo Announces ThinkPad X220 laptop And X220 Convertible Tablet PC

Lenovo People’s Republic of China-based Multinational computer technology corporation has today announced the ThinkPad X220 laptop and X220 convertible Tablet PC which has been designed with an ultraportable design which runs battery life up to 24 hours on the ThinkPad X220.

The new ThinkPad X220 laptop is awesome with its low weight and lasting battery life. While coming to the features the new ThinkPad X220 laptop is equipped with 12.5-inch HD screen with a resolution of 1366×768, with Sandy Bridge Core i3, i5, and i7 processors, 720p webcam, new buttonless touchpad, common docking support with the ThinkPad T, L and W series, up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, dual digital microphones, USB 3.0 and a selection SSDs, with Intel’s 80GB and 160GB offerings, Wi-Fi and Windows 7 Professional (64-bit).

Here comes the extreme spec of the X220 laptop, which is its battery life with a 6 cell battery X220 laptop, provides up to 9 hours of run time. Upgrade to a 9 cell battery and you should get 15 hours. There’s also an external battery option which provides up to 24 hours of run time.

While the X220 Convertible Tablet features the same specs as the ThinkPad X220 Laptop but with a swiveling LCD for conversion into a tablet and weights 3.88 pounds with a 4 cell battery and is armed with 12.5-inch HD screen, with scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass, with Sandy Bridge Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 processors, 8G of DDR3 memory, with 802.11n WiFi, WiMAX, or 3G options, Hard drive and SSD options.

Coming to the battery life with a standard 4 cell battery, you can use a 9 cell battery. The convertible tablet gets up to 16 hours of run time with a 6 cell battery and the external battery pack.

Finally, the new ThinkPad X220 laptop and X220 convertible Tablet both will be hitting the market in April with approximately starting price tag of $899 and $1,199 respectively.

Mini Laptop Shipments exced Notebooks

Netbook shipments in the second quarter nearly doubled that of traditional mobile PCs in a business market. It rising 40% from the first quarter, DisplaySearch reported in its quarterly laptop report. Quarter-to-quarter Shipments of traditional laptops increased 22%.

Mini-laptops in the second quarter accounted for 22.2% of mobile PC shipments, almost a fourfold increase from 5.6% of the market in the same period a year ago. Shipments of traditional laptops accounted for 77.8% of the market.

Trade Complaint Targets Laptop Flash Storage, IPhone

Trade-CommissionThe U.S. International Trade Commission will looks into flash storage chips. This is used by  Apple, Research In Motion, Dell, Asus, Sony, Lenovo and other vendors after a company claiming five patents on flash technology sought to ban the importation of the chips and devices that use them.

BTG alleges, some Samsung chips break its patents on multilevel NAND flash memory.The chips are used in a range of the first-generation iPhone 8GB,  Asus Eee PC netbook, MacBook Air, Lenovo ThinkPad X301, Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-T2 camera and flash cards and storage devices products, according to the suit.

In US, Once filing a suit against the manufacturers on July 20 after that BTG International went to the ITC on July 27.

In third generation, iPod Shuffle 4GB and second-generation iPod Touch 16GB products are included. The Dell D630 and Sony Vaio VGN-TT190 laptops are named to the Lenovo X301.
