The Game Developers Conference 2011 is planning to introduce some hot products, which would grab the attention of the people. Serenity Caldwell, the Staff Editor of Macworld and Stephanie Kent, the Editorial Intern visited the Game Developers Conference at Moscone Center at San Francisco to check out the hot products on the display floor. They found some awesome games, technologies and gadgets. Three gadgets were attractive from the rest.
The first one is, the Nintendo 3DS, the successor of Nintendo DS line. It is the competitor for iPhone in the mobile market. The special feature of Nintendo 3DS is, 3D games could be played without wearing special glasses. It is the first one introduced in the industry. It has dual cameras, just like iPhone with front and rear along with touch screen interface. It also allows you to take 3D pictures unlike iPhone. The users can play games in 3D with the additional screen.
It has three new options of interfaces such as the circle pad, motion sensor and gyro sensor, which make the device interactive and versatile for the games. It costs $250 and it will be available from March 27, 2011 with 18 games initially and within a month, another 30 games will be available.
Second, Parrot’s quad-copter, the AR Drone with remote control. The interesting thing is that, it is controlled by iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with dual cameras, one in the front and one at the bottom. The terrain will be seen around AR Drone with iOS device. The application is free for download from the App store, but you should have quad-copter for it to work and it costs $299.
The last one is Sphero, a gadget using iOS device as a remote control. It uses both accelerometer and gyroscope technologies. It plays tags with other Spheros, rolls around and ramps up. It is expected to be available for $129 during holiday season this year. The developers are also working on free and paid games, which work with Sphero.
