Well, Sony has recently released its PlayStation Vita handheld gaming console in Japan on this Saturday. And here we go with the interesting news, which states that Sony had sold 3, 21,400 PlayStation Vita in the first 2 days.
Quite fascinatingly, the figure (3, 21,400) confirms that the Company is sitting pretty on their terrain in the country. On the other hand, in February Nintendo 3DS has sold 50000 units more than the PlayStation Vita in the first 2 days.
According to the statistics reports from research firm Enterbrain, although the figures in early days are promising, Sony thinks that they should live up to the anticipation of clientele to maintain the rivalry posed by the competitors.
In the initial days, Nintendo has grabbed a huge success, but in later stages has faced problems starting to show up. There were not many compelling games on that device, and sadly the company was forced to reduce the price tag for the 3DS soon after.
Of course, the Nintendo 3DS is a perfect opponent for the Sony PlayStation Vita. However, both the Companies have common opponents in the electronics market of smartphones and tablets. On the other hand, a lot of cheaper or even free apps and games are available on such devices. These factors might discourage people from buying a gaming device like Play Station Vita.
According to the recent reports from Flurry Analytics, both Sony and Nintendo are predicated to grab only 42 percent of the revenue in gaming market as against 82 percent 2 years back.
Sony is likely to release the device in Europe and US in February 2012, selling the Wi-Fi version Vita at a price tag of $250 and 3G enabled Vita models for $300 price.
