comScore the Market research firm has announced its November 2011 report on US mobile subscribers, according to the reports Android grabs the lead position in smartphone platforms, at the same time as Samsung is still on top in smartphone manufacturer market share. On the other hand, the Cupertino California giant (Apple) saw increasing growth, whereas the others expected due to a boost from its iPhone 4S sales.
30,000 US mobile subscribers were surveyed by taking the 3 month average period ending in November. The study report note that among the top 5 smartphone OEMs, the first place has been grabbed by Samsung with 25.6 percent, a 0.3 point change, whereas Apple stands at the fourth place with 11.2 percent, a dramatic 1.4 point change. The second and third place has been grabbed by LG and Motorola, with 20.5 percent and 13.7 percent respectively, each seeing a drop of -0.5 and -0.3 point changes.
Quite fascinatingly, the Search Giant’s Android continues to lead in the top 5 smartphone platforms, currently at 46.9 percent, a 3.1 point change, which is dropped from the 4.4 point change noted in the 3 month period ending last month. While, currently Apple’s iOS is at 28.7 percent, 1.4 point changes up from the 1.0 point change last month.
Sadly, RIM has seen the greatest drop with a negative 3.1 point change, platform market share down to 16.6 percent. Microsoft as well isn’t doing too good, in spite of its latest launch of fresh Windows Phone 7.5 Mango devices, currently seeing a 5.2 percent market share over the 3 month period.
